What can I do?

Start your volunteer experience with SPICE Travel & partner who is dedicated to the protection of children and working for social transformation and a just and corrupt free society. Get a chance to learn conversational language and experience the culture & working practice in Philippines!

Who can join?

Anyone is welcome but there will be a screening process for all applicants.

Program Details

Volunteers will be assigned to the respective volunteer project based on their skills, abilities, qualifications, interest and preference. For list of project, please scroll down.

After an orientation (3-5 days) on the projects that they have expressed interest in, they can then request the particular project they want to work as.

Working Hours: 8am – 5pm (Similar to that of a Local Volunteer Staff)

Duration:

From 2 weeks to 6 months
(Short immersion and participation in on going projects)

Program fee includes:

Accommodation at Local Guesthouse
Letter of recommendation and certificate of participation at the end of the project

Room Rates (per day):

Air-conditioned Room, private toilet
Solo or Double Occupancy PHP 600/person
Shared room of 3-5 persons PHP 500/person

Non Air-conditioned room with fan, Private toilet
Solo or Double Occupancy PHP 400/person
Shared room of 2-5 persons PHP 350/person

Food Rates: (HALAL food is twice the price)

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner: PHP 100 each
AM/PM Snacks: PHP50 each

Note: Use of air con limited to 5pm – 8am. (Exceeding usage will be charged PHP 50/hour)
Lodging includes beddings, linens and towels

Vehicle Rates: (can board 10-12 people including driver)

Manila: PHP 6000
SBMA Tour: PHP 2000
Angeles Trip: PHP 3500

Portfolio of Projects

1. Revival of childhood - girls 
·Provide residential home for girls complete with therapeutic recovery program with emotional expression therapy and family therapy counseling.

2. Fighting for Justice
·Helping children accused of crime, helping victims of physical and sexual harassment and abuse. Providing research and legal assistance in the prosecution of their abusers

3. Set the children free 
·Visit jails and works on the cases of children and minors in conflict with the Law
·Work in Residential center with therapeutic activities, trainings, non-formal education and legal assistance

4. Save a Street Child today
·Helping street children in dire circumstances, providing fresh food, clothes, counseling, non-formal education, legal assistance, protection from police and tanods harassment, medical services, outings, parties, entertainment clothes and friendship. (A new home is planned for those asking to leave the streets.)

5. Public Education and Preventive Seminars
·Provide specialized integrated workshops and training through the provinces to elementary and high schools teachers, social workers and community and church leaders for the prevention of child abuse, drug abuse and the HIV-AIDS by using Handouts, posters, video showing and direct people youth participation.

6. Children Rights Education
·Lobbying project to the Barangay communities, college business on child protection and legal procedures in child abuse cases
·Training volunteer to be appointed by the court to be legal guardians of children in need of legal protection and help

7. Research, Advocacy, Information and Networking
·Dissemination through articles, pamphlets, newsletters, public speaking engagements, global awareness building in the Philippines and abroad, through media (radio and TV), and working with journalists and broadcasters

8. Plant-a-tree
·Assist Indigenous People¹s leaders for dialogue and community action for environmental protection and development
·Establish tree nurseries

9. Youth Campaigns
·Provides training in social and family values, leadership training and character formation through seminars, workshops, summer camps, and social projects done by the youth
·Theatre group that stages musical dramas with strong social and human content

10. Scholarship for Youth 
·Specialized education in nursing assistance, social work, and computer training for disadvantaged youth and in particular Filipino-American youth

11. Safe Internet Campaign
·Persuade Internet Service Providers to block access to child pornography over the Internet and for computer companies to make their products safe for children

12. Fair Trading
·Nation wide project assisting 26 village and urban based production groups making quality handicraft items that are exported by Preda
·Village infrastructure projects (clean water systems, land purchase) product design and other family services
