Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is eligible to apply for your programs and who are not?
Everybody, of any nationality, is eligible. In Mauritius most STUDENTS come as part of their education for the internship and for the Trainings Visa / Residence Permit. They should be over 18. We deal a lot with students that come out for 5 to 6 months. This usually creates a win – win situation.

Q: When is the best time during the year to participate in the programs? Is there any time when it is not possible?
Really any time. We have year round options.

Q: How far in advance do you suggest us to apply before our planned start?
Three months would be the minimum to apply, to sort out things properly. In some cases the internships are available and we can act much more quickly.

Q: Where are potential internship located?
The internships in Mauritius are located throughout the island, in Port Louis, Flic en Flac, Rose Hill, Ebene, Grand Bay etc.

Q: Do you offer language courses?
At present we have not found a suitable language school in Mauritius and we suggest students improve their English before they come out to Mauritius. It is vital that they speak English in Mauritius.

Q: Do you assist with Visa? How long can I stay?
Students in Mauritius need a Trainings Visa / Residence Permit for a period of 3 or 6 months. We apply at the immigration office here in Mauritius. We currently do not charge separately for getting the visa, it is part of the package. There is no government charge either.

Q: Who is meet us at the airport?
Depending of the wishes of the student we either send a taxi or we pick the students up ourselves.

Q: What kind of accommodation is offered?
We place students in shared houses or flats. Every student has their own room and they share kitchen, bathroom, living room, etc. All houses have a fridge, washing machine and television and we are looking into internet. The students do their own shopping, cooking and washing up. We can arrange for a cleaning lady, once or twice a week.

Q: What are the transportation options to and from work?
Public transport works well in Mauritius and most students travel by bus. Many companies have their own shuttle buses to collect their staff from around the island and our students can also use these services.

Q: Do I need to have work experience?
It is not necessary that students have work experience before they do their internship. It is however a plus if they have relevant experience.

Q: Are internships paid or unpaid? What is the reality?
In general we feel that the remuneration of the internships in Mauritius are OK for Mauritian standards .We aim to get the following:

• A stipend to cover the housing expenses, transport and lunch.
• A refund of 50% of the flight cost at the end of the internship as a bonus

Q: Do we have to apply for a Trainings Visa in Mauritius and not in my home country? Am I allowed to come to Mauritius without any type of visa? What's the fee for the visa application?
Our partner, Alumno Astralis apply for the “residence permits” here in Mauritius. Even if people apply for it in Europe it will go via Mauritius, so in the end it’s quicker to do it here. At present there is no fee for the visa application.

Q: How much does the student accommodation cost for students?
Student accommodation in Mauritius cost around 200 euro a month.

Q: What do you think is the living cost for students in Mauritius for a 6 months stay? (not just fees for program, but also costs for his/her living there for a 6 months, eating, enjoying the country, travelling to work, etc.)
All included, having a good time, you should estimate an amount  of 400 – 500 euro a month. This includes housing, food, excursions, travel to work etc.

Q: Which fields are the most common for the internship?
We have good experience in the field of Tourism, Business, Hotel Industry, Tour Operator, Finance, IT, HR etc.
